Proper Clothing Proper clothing coordination is critical. Couples or small groups should choose simple garments with the same tonal ranges. When subject appear in a mixture of light and dark tones together, there is a visual confusion - as the light color comes forward, and the dark color recedes. When this happens, one person becomes dominant and appears heavier than in reality.

Makeup Makeup for portraits should be only slightly heavier than normal. Too much makeup tends to give you that "painted" look, too little might not show off your best features. Even if you don't wear much makeup, be sure to bring a loose translucent powder to eliminate shine especially for oily skin. Bring a compact mirror for on-location quick touch-ups on skin, eyes and lips. Inquire at your local department store or other cosmetic counter about "photography friendly" make-up. They can steer you in the right direction. What to wear, male: Guys, bring several outfits. A suit or sport coat for formal poses. Make sure your shirts are pressed to avoid wrinkles. Casual outfits are best kept to solid colors. Denim, white (white - indoor only), black and solid earth tones always look good. Reds are great colors for outdoors. Something else: Do you see something that you like? Perhaps in a magazine or an album cover? Do you sort of like your friend's pictures? Take a moment and page through Cosmo, Vanity Fair, GQ, Sports Illustrated or any other stylish/interesting magazine. See how your favorite personalities are portrayed in photographs. Pay attention to the expressions, body poses, clothing and general attitude. Send the clip to me before our session and we'll discuss how we can emulate that certain look. Finally, lay out all the clothing onto a bed. Shoes, socks, stockings (dark hose is best), everything should be included. Then, take a careful look at the collection. If your eye goes to any one item in particular, you can be certain that the same thing will happen in a photograph. That item must be changed. Clothing should not be too tight or too loose. Clothing below the waist must be darker than above. Otherwise, even light jeans worn below a darker top could easily attract attention to the lower part of the body and away from the face. Just remember since our section will be taken outside, changing clothe will hard or impossible. In a family group, proper clothing coordination is critical. Choose clothing in the same tonal ranges so that so that no single member of the family stands out | ||
